FANTASTIC FOUR # 20, November 1963, Origin & 1st appearance of the Molecule Man
The Watcher (one of Crazy Ed's favorite Silver Age characters--he was 1st introduced in FF 13) visits his favorite Earth heroes to warn them of an impending emergency--the appearance of the Molecule Man, a being whom can rearrange matter according to his will; he is a potentially Universe endangering destructive power!
This character was so powerful, and feared by the Watcher; after his defeat at the hands of the FF, the Watcher CLEARLY appears to violate his "non-Interference doctrine"
See the story panels that impressed me with this "act." Having been a fan of Star Trek back in the 60's, the "prime Directive' of non-interference with a alien society was a clear and sensible approach! See if you don't agree the Watcher's action do a lot more than advise, inform and observe!
The last item of interest is that this character (partially due to the actions by the Watcher to remove him to another galaxy) did not appear back in the Marvel Universe to threaten anyone for almost 20 years, until he appeared as the "stooge of Doom" in the 12 issue series "Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars." Considering how often a villain is recycled to use in a stoyline in comics, this makes the Molecule Man a remarkable case of "shelf-life" of a major Marvel Villain!
This copy is a solid and complete issue in the VG+ range, perhaps 4.5-5.0
Very light overall wear and an unremarkable back cover, while the front cover boasts sharp, vivid color tones and great eye appeal!
This issue is priced right in line with the March 2009 Overstreet price guide (already 10 months old). Your satisfaction is guaranteed--the book is unrestored, unadulterated, a solid ("1st 20") issue of a classic Marvel Silver Age series and sure to increase in value.
