ACTION COMICS #257 Oct 1959 has a great Luthor story, interior drawn by
Wayne Boring and the cover art by the great Curt Swan (Superman, Luthor
and Clark always had better and more realistic
facial expressions when drawn by Curt Swan than anyone else in the
1950's or 1960's). Besides the Superman story, the issue has a Congo
Bill story and a Supergirl story by artist Jim Mooney.
This copy
is graded a solid VG/FN 5.0 The cover colors are still rich, although
less bright than 'vivid.' The interior was carefully checked for
completeness. No cover creases, only regular bottom right corner wear.
There is average wear at the spine, no risk of fragility or
detachment. The centerfold & staples are well attached, although
wear around the staples is showing (when you hold the book up-light
comes through the staple areas). But the last picture (interior cover
& page 1) show that the wear is not structural, just natural
handling wear. The
Back cover reflects a minor wrinkle (no ink cut) that can be felt, but
not seen. No ink is abraded or missing. The interior cover is lightly
tan but not brittle; interior pages are supple and creamy. Overall, it
shows LESS than normal 50 year+ wear and for the grade range that is still
vivid and solid.
