For Superman fans, this is about as in-between "1st Code era" and
"Early Silver age" a solid, pretty and basically undamaged copy of
ACTION COMICS #230, from July 1957.
Besides a Superman story
(cover art by Al Plastino, interior art drawn by Wayne Boring, the
issue has a Congo Bill (by Nick Cardy) and a Tommy Tomorrow (by future
Supergirl artist Jim Mooney) futuristic science tale. The issue has
several humor cartoons, an article about Coin Collecting as well as a
Mickey Mantle photo on the back cover. A Classic Eisenhower era (later
called 'baby boomer') comic!
This copy of Action #230 (subject
to pre-1964 grading standards) is graded a solid FN 6.0, possibly 6.5
or higher. "Going for it" is eye appeal, lack of MAJOR tears or
creases, folds, tape or other problems! One light baby crease on the
bottom rt corner and a soft corner or two is about all that is visible;
there is a nearly unnoticeable 1/8" inch tear along the bottom left
edge at the spine, along with the "historically acceptable" arrival
date stamp. The cover colors are still rich; the interior was carefully
checked for completeness. The centerfold and staples are still well
attached. The
Back cover and the interior covers are tanning (not brittle) and the
interior pages are supple cream to off-white. Overall, it shows LESS
than normal 50 year+ wear and for the grade range is still vivid and
solid.
